Everyday Cycling Guide

Editorial policy

How we research articles, describe ratings and keep corrections clear.

Research and sources

Our guides draw on official instructions, manufacturer specifications and relevant public guidance. News uses primary announcements and attributable statements for material facts. We distinguish an announcement from a completed change and the event date from our publication date. Linked video features are editorial commentary on the named film, rather than interviews conducted by this site.

Research is different from testing

Our current buying guides are researched comparisons. We have not performed the road or laboratory tests implied by terms such as “tested by us”. Manufacturer runtime, output and load figures are stated specifications, not our measurements. Prices and versions can change; readers should check the exact item being sold.

What the stars mean

Stars and scores are editorial assessments of the documented features for the use described. Category ratings help you compare relevant strengths and drawbacks. They are not measured performance results or customer review averages. An unsupported category is left unrated. A score does not establish fit, safety certification or suitability for every rider.

Opinion and recommendations

We take an encouraging, pro-cycling view while separating factual reporting from opinion. Recommendations explain their reasons and material limitations. Featuring a creator alongside another creator does not imply a collaboration or endorsement between them.

Commercial information

The current buying guides contain no affiliate links. AdSense setup is in progress; ad units are not currently activated. Any future affiliate links, advertising or sponsored articles should be identified where they appear. A sponsored trip discussed in a video recommendation should be identified when known. Coverage or recommendations must not be described as an independent endorsement where that has not been established.

Photographs and illustrations

Images should match the named product or location. Archive photographs are dated and illustrative variants identified. Realistic generated instructional images are used to explain actions, with their provenance recorded on Photo credits; they are not evidence of real product tests or completed journeys.

Corrections and updates

Material factual corrections should explain what changed and carry an update date. Original publication dates are retained. Developing stories should state what remains uncertain; urgent safety notices should keep the required action prominent. If an error affects several listings, summaries or search entries, those should be corrected together.

Reader discussion and privacy

Article comments use giscus, which stores discussions on GitHub. Viewing the comment box connects your browser to giscus and GitHub; those services receive connection information needed to deliver it. Posting requires GitHub sign-in and authorisation to post. Comments, replies and the commenter’s GitHub profile are public on the article and in the corresponding public GitHub discussion. Do not submit private contact details or other sensitive information.

Comments are published when submitted, rather than held for approval. Relevant criticism is welcome. Spam, abuse, personal information and unsupported accusations may be removed, and discussions may be locked. To flag a comment, use the reporting options available on GitHub.
